Continuing medical education
H+O organises national and international symposia,
workshops, expert panels, local and national continuing medical
education and information events for lay people, including presentation
if desired. Speakers at the continuing medical education and symposia
are trained beforehand in specially designed Train-the-Trainer
Workshops.
Task
Planning and organisation of the glaucoma symposium for ophthalmologists
from the whole of German-speaking Switzerland as well as hosting and
coaching of the national and international speakers. The event is
intended to gain recognition and thereby continuing medical education
points by the Swiss Ophthalmologic Society (SOG).
Implementation
H+O organised the symposium in Basle and was responsible for it being
conducted successfully. International speakers presented the latest
results of glaucoma research and demonstrated the significance of the
thickness of the cornea, the treatment of ocular hypertension based on
the NNT concept, the advantages and disadvantages of surgical and
pharmacological treatment and how to measure blood circulation in the
eye. The opportunities for discussion and a question-and-answer session
were greeted with enthusiasm by the participating ophthalmologists.
